About Me
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:16-20). I have a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. I also have a Masters degree in education from Union University. It is my desire to be the most effective teacher that God will allow me to be. God has used my time as a teacher to reveal characteristics about my heart. He has revealed traits in my character that are not always righteous and by his grace I can focus to overcome these. Also, God has continually reformed my ability to relate and communicate to others. Identifying the education, physical, and emotional needs of all learners. I have in no way mastered this, but I constantly strive to be a more effective disciple of Christ and communicator of information.
I want to allow students to function in their least restrictive environment. The classroom is a place of learning and I want to bring an interest of science and chemistry to all students regardless of background. My goal is to continually become a greater motivator and developer of higher order thinking skills. I do not promote the memorization of material, but I focus on the application and use of information.
School is a place of education and not an environment to teach the bible. Although I am restricted from teaching the bible, thus respecting all students religious rights, all students need someone who genuinely cares about them, their well being and development.
I believe that as a Christian my purpose in life is not to convert people to Christianity but to present Christ to people by Glorifying God through my life. God changes people’s hearts and lives. I am just an instrument to be used by God to help people see their need for Christ. As a teacher and a coach I can impact the lives of students. Hopefully I can do this without negatively reflecting the character of Jesus Christ.
High school students are at a very fragile point in life. They are searching for significance. Some find that significance in boyfriends or girlfriends. Some find it in things as simple as a car. They will soon find out that in life these things do not fulfill their lives like they desire. That boyfriend or girlfriend is just as imperfect as they are. That cool car isn’t cool forever unless it is a cherry red Chevy nomad with a blown big block V8. If we were all so lucky.
Jesus Christ said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. A relationship with Jesus Christ is the only thing that can fulfill that void in their life. This is how God designed us.
I am also a volunteer Young Life Leader. We will meet on Monday nights during the school year. We usually go to different students houses so the place of meeting is TBD. Please ask me if you have any questions or you can ask Susan Green. She will be outside of the cafeteria on Mondays handing out information about where we will meet.
